Creating Model Laws and Governance
Block Leges©.
The Name:
The term "Leges" originates from Latin and is the plural form of "lex" which means "law." In a legal context, "leges" refers to laws or legislation enacted by a governing body, such as a legislative body or a governmental authority. Leges represent rules and regulations that are binding and enforceable within a particular jurisdiction.
The Aim:
Block Leges ©, founded in 2018, dedicated to developing model laws and governance structures to support the implementation and application of blockchain technology in various jurisdictions.
Block Leges © recognises the need for legal frameworks and regulatory guidance to foster the adoption of blockchain use-cases and ensure compliance with existing laws.
By creating Model Laws and Governance, Block Leges aims to provide a standardised framework that jurisdictions can adopt or adapt to meet their specific legal requirements regarding blockchain technology. These model laws can serve as a starting point for governments, policymakers, and legal professionals when drafting legislation related to blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.
The purpose of Block Leges© is to bridge the gap between the rapidly evolving technology and the existing legal systems, to create a Universal Model Law.
